Thanksgiving 2009

What a great day! The day was shared with family:) Bill via yahoo chat on my blackberry, Brice, Dave, Angie, Matt, Elizabeth, Shawn, JoJo, Charlotte, Peter, Taru, Katie, Andrew, Matt, Nick, Travis, Lauren and Jay.

The day started off with sleeping in till a whopping 0630! I won't complain since my alarm normally rousts me out of bed at 0530...lol. I delivered newspapers with the much desired Black Friday ads to Juanita, Elizabeth and Angie. Came home to find a cinnamon roll from JoJo waiting for me.

Then it was time to start my cooking. I thought I got off easy and only had to do appetizers. Wrong! I ended up spending a couple of hours prepping and cooking. I made Tastefully Simple's Garlic Garlic dip(ok, that one was easy...lol). I made a chocolate chip cheese ball that ended up being a dip as I didn't want to wait for it to set and form into a ball-still tasted great on graham crackers. The other appetizers were what took the most time. Cheesey Bacon Puffs-bacon, cheese, mayo and mustard on pumpernickel bread and broiled, very yummy! Crab stuffed mushrooms with the excess crab filling doubling as a yummy dip. The final ones were the best...bacon wrapped scallops! De-lish!

The appetizers were just the beginning though. We had turkey, ham and prime rib. Green beans, corn, butternut squash, mashed taters, stuffing, gravy and rolls. Desserts were plentiful too...pumpkin pie, pecan pie, chocolate cream pie and coconut cake.

Everyone went around saying what they were thankful for. There were sweet ones and funny ones. We laughed and we cried. As we ate, we continued to talk and share stories and laugh and laugh. More memories were made and it was a wonderful way to spend the day.

I could try to list all I am thankful for, but that would take forever as I am very blessed. So I will keep it simple...as I said at dinner, I am very thankful for the United States Navy as it is the common bond that brought all these wonderful people in my life and I couldn't think of a better group of people to share the holiday with.

Happy Thanksgiving!
