Today is the day
So I never had a wedding wedding, we were married by a Superior Court judge. Now and then, when I see lovely wedding photos and have a brief pang where I wish we had done that. Then reality sets in, and I hear friends bitching and am glad we didn't deal with all the bullshit. The nearest thing planning wise we've done is the retirement ceremony. It has only reinforced that I am glad we didn't have to go through the dog and pony show. I will be so very glad when this is over and done with. It is a stressful time all around-not just planning the retirement ceremony, but finding a post-Navy job, planning a move, having to look for a house, etc. And the ceremony is just one more thing to pile on. I'm glad he's doing it as I feel he should be recognized for his awesome career. I think he will be pleasently surprised by many things...from the quilt that I've been working on for 6 months, tracking down people all over the world, and harrassing for squares to there being a surprise guest, a friend who was a Senior Chief when he was an airman in his first squadron. I will greatly welcome a beer, or seven, once it's all done today. And once EVERYTHING(move, new house, etc) is done, I shall welcome them even more. Today starts the rest of my life.
