I love living in a small town!! I picked up the paper yesterday, which was Wed's paper by the way, since it only comes out twice a week. On the top half of the front page of the paper, our biggest story was turkeys. There was a picture of 3 turkeys along the roadside, with the title 'Turkeys in the Road'. That's what is news in our town.
Upon further reading, my favorite part of the paper...the police blotter-which could be a whole other post on it's own. Apparently, the turkeys were an ongoing issue.
Tuesday, Sept 23, at 423 pm, a caller reported five turkeys in the road.
Saturday, Sept 27 at 1058 am, a caller reported two loose turkeys on Highway 20 at Waterloo Road.
Sunday, Sept 28 at 314 pm, turkeys were reported on Highway 20.
Sunday, Sept 28 at 522 pm, there was a report of four or five turkeys southbound on Highway 20(trying to make the ferry maybe?)
Sunday, Sept 28 at 626 pm, a Highway 20 resident requested that deputies shoot her turkeys. She's unable to contain them.

I gotta tell you that you are coo-coo! LOL My DH runs for fun too and uses nike plus. I kind of want to get it for the hell of it for walking and what not but hate to spend the mulah on it. He runs 5ks and recently signed up for a half marathon himself. ::shudders:: LOL
