20/20

Age is catching up with me. My eyes have deteriorated. I'm no longer 20/15...merely 20/20...lol. I went in for an eye exam today, had been a few years and just figured it was time again. No problems or anything-which is amazing since I pretty much spend all my time either on the computer at work or home, I read all the time and watch TV...everything I do is bad for your eyes. Thankfully though, I lucked out in the genes department-either that or I'm the mailman's baby since both my parents have horrible eyes...lol. The doctor said everything was great, and was impressed that I came because nothing was wrong with me-said if I was a male, I wouldn't be in the chair since men tend to think, there's nothing wrong with me, why go to the doctor??? He did say I have a slight astigmatism(which I knew), but that since my eyes are great otherwise, that I don't need glasses now. I apparently naturally correct for the astigmatism, which he said may be because I DID wear glasses for a brief time as a kid for it. He said in mild cases, the glasses retrain the eyes to compensate and operate well enough without the glasses. I did have to get my eyes dilated though-but thankfully no puff of air into the eye. Overall, great exam, said all is well and I don't have to go back for 2-3 years. I thought this was interesting, and he made a point to say that this is in no way an exemption from seeing your regular doctor for exams, but that the blood vessels behind my eyes indicate I'm in good health overall, that it's the one place in your body that they can see the blood vessels in their natural state and that mine are nice and healthy.
