Today, Nov 11, it is only fitting that I am thankful for veterans. I am extremely blessed to have come from a military family. I know all too well the sacrifices that the military makes for everyone. So while I thank all veterans as a whole, I will also single a few out.
My wonderful husband who is currently on active duty, Chief Naval Aircrewman Bill H. Benz.
My daddy is an Air Force vet, he was an air traffic controller, Robert W. Couch.
My grandaddy, Clyde J. Couch, US Army, retired, 101st Airborne, he was in WWII , Korea and Vietnam.
My uncle, Terry L. Couch, US Army vet.
My uncle Gregory A. Couch, US Army vet.
My mom was in the Navy, she was a structural mechanic on aircraft, A. Kaye Couch.
My grandfather, William B. Thompson is a Navy vet.
My aunt, Elizabeth DeHart is retired Air Force as is her husband Michael DeHart.
My uncle, Webb Thompson is a USMC vet.
By virtue of spending a lifetime around the military, I have also been blessed to meet an incredible amount of wonderful people and they are too numerous to list. I thank all of them as well.
It is the Soldier(and Sailor, Airman, and Marine)
It is the soldier, not the minister, who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the soldier, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.
It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.
