For the week, got in a couple of weight workouts, and a couple of training rucks on the treadmill. Bricks are heavy. Hit what is normally PiYo on Thurs night again, usual teacher was out, so we had a straight Pilates class-my first one, not my favorite and I won't seek it out.
On Sat, I opted to sleep in ever so slightly(0600 vice 0500) and just use the Leatherneck 5K as my workout. I did the entire race with my bricks in my ruck-and initially had intended to just walk as I'm still mainly trying to get used to the weight, but I actually ran(albeit it slowly) the majority of it.
As I was slower, and thus towards the back, and taking walk breaks, a woman with a dog was chatting me up a bit, and asked if this was my first time, I told her no, it was the 3rd time I'd done this particular race. She asked if I was running anything else, I said well I don't have anything immediate lined up(a couple in the fall), but that I do run through marathon distance and told her how many marathons and halfs so far. I then also said I was training for a GORUCK and that's why I had the ruck with bricks in it. That garnered a 'you're crazy' from her lol. Well, I reckon I've been called worse lol. I did learn though, your body uses muscles differently when you add extra weight. I was definitely feeling it after the race, last night, and today.
